Frankly speaking, I have NO idea how to pronounce it's brand name. Koreans always have some weird brand names going on, wonder how they got their idea from.

Like all other korean products, they always have cute packaging and in this case, graphics. They do know cute and interesting looking products sells really well because that's what females attracted to. There is ZERO english (beside the title) instruction given so the graphic helps a lot.

It comes in a plastic bottle with screw on lid. Once open, there's a protection layer and a spatula. This spatula is not like other regular spatula that I've seen. It has a triangle tip and I presume they designed it this way because it can cover more surface area than a regular ones

Application is easy. Apply evenly onto your dry face. Wait for 5 minutes for it to bubble all up. Massage and rinse off with lukewarm water.

I have seen reviews saying this can be a deep cleansing makeup remover and pore cleanser. I do believe this can be a pore cleanser as I can tell one of the ingredient must be charcoal due to the colour of the product but not so sure about it being a makeup remover.

Charcoal have purify properties, it can help to fight against acnes, deep cleansing and also able to refine and tighten pores. Since I can't read korean so I googled for it's other ingredients. These are the few main ingredients; green tea extract, aloe vera extract, matcha powder, charcoal powder, pomegranate extract and peony root extract. Don't worry, I will tell you guys the properties of these ingredients.

Green Tea Extract: Anti-aging, Antioxidants, Protection from skin cancer, Anti-inflammation

Aloe Vera Extract: Adaptogen, Analgesic, Astringent, Anti-inflammation, Anti-aging, Moisturize

Match Powder: Antioxidants, Anti-aging, Chlorophyll

Charcoal Powder: Reduce acnes, Whitening, Anti-aging, Oxygenation

Pomegranate Extract:Cellular regeneration, Antioxidants, Moisturzer, Exfoliating

Peony Root Extract: Antioxidants, Anti-inflammation, Tonifying and firming the epidermis

Unlike any other clay mask, this did not harden up. Less mess is occur which I like. Once you applied it, you have to work fast. Bubbles will starts to foam once it contact with the air. Suggest not to put so much on the top lip as you do not want to inhale the chemical bubbles. I do find that the spatula is harder to use on the centre of the eyes. Once the mask turn into a lighter grey, this is when the endurance test comes. It will be ticklish due the bubbles moving about on the face. You can hear the bubbles popping and moving. Bubbles will foam and thicken after sometime, I had fun poking it afterwards. It is recommend to massage for about a couple of minutes before washing it off.

While washing off, it feel slimy. I guess it turned into another texture due to contact with the water. I aid the help of makeup remover cloth in removing the mask. My face feels smoother, cleaner and clearer afterwards. I can feel that my skin is pulling especially areas on the cheek and it doesn't completely strip off my moisture unlike other clay mask.

Since it is an inexpensive product I do recommend people to buy and try out this product at least once. It will be fun for girl's night. Or maybe you can prank your boyfriend with it and see his reaction when bubbles foam.

Differences in Sun Screen and Sun Block!

We first must know about UVA, UVB and UVC before we talk about the differences.

UV stands for "ultraviolet" radiation.

UVA is around us every day; it can even penetrate through window glass. We always want to look tan during summer and this is the ray that does that. UVA does tanning effect aka darken our complexion. It leads to aging and loss of collagen over long period of time because it can penetrate deeper and damage our cells.

UVB leads to sun burn, skin reddening and the main cause of skin cancer. It tends to damage our epidermal layers. UVB rays do not significantly penetrate glass.

UVC is absorbed by the ozone layer and does not reach the Earth because it has a shorter ray. Basically you can ignore UVC, I only wrote UVC because it seemed cool.

If you can't memorize don't worry. Just remember "A" in UVA stands for "Aging" and "B" in UVB stands for "Burning".

Next thing we need to know is SPF.

SPF is know as "Sun Protection Factor". It is a measurement of how well a sunscreen will protect skin from UVB rays which will damage our skin.

So what does the SPF number is about?

SPF30 means you could be out in the sun approximately *300 minutes before you get sunburned than you would be able to if you went out without. The higher the number, the longevity. However I still recommend to reapply every couple of hours.

*A user can determine how long their sunscreen will be effective by multiplying the SPF factor by the length of time it takes for him or her to suffer a burn without sunscreen.

What is Sunscreen?

Sunscreen is the chemical protection that penetrates the skin and absorbs the UVA rays before they are able to reach and damage your dermal layer. It filters the suns UV rays, keeping most rays out, but letting some in.

Sun screen helps you to tan without damaging your skin and you have to reapply every two hours and put on a lot for it to be effective because ingredients will break down after exposure in the sun.

What is Sunblock? 

Sunblock is the physical protection that sits on top of the skin acting as a barrier between your skin and damaging UV rays by reflecting or absorb the rays, preventing them from penetrating into the skin.

Sun block is the opaque lotion. You can see people wearing especially at the beach, with streak of sunblock on their noses and other parts of their face. I do that to whole of my face and made myself looked like a clown.

Sunblock does not have to be reapplied every few hours. Personally I do because it wears off especially I do a lot of sports. Better be prepared right?

In fact, many brands today are a hybrid of sunscreen and sunblock. There's a way to tell whether the sunscreen offers UVA protection is by the word "Broad Spectrum". Without it, it's just an average sunscreen.

What is PA+++?

PA means "Protection Grade of UVA". PA followed by plus signs is a designation used in Japan to rate the UVA protection of a sunscreen. The number of "+" symbols after "PA" indicate the level of UVA protection; PA+ means some UVA protection. In fact "PA" equals to "Broad Spectrum".

Tips & Tricks on How To Box Swap!

Swapping is fun when you chose the right swapper to swap with. To me this is too about making friends. I made a lot of new friends too and they are pretty awesome.

• Know that person first

If she's new, chat with her. Know her personality and character.
If she's a veteran, check with the past swappers she had swapped with, better yet ask them for photos.

Only swap with the person that you feel comfortable with. Make sure she is active in the group that you are in with her.

• Set a theme

Do you want to have snacks? Or you prefer to have cosmetic products? Perhaps you just want $10 worth of snacks and $40 worth of cosmetics products. Or $10 worth of snacks, $20 worth of cosmetics and $20 worth of skincare.

• Set a limit

You do want to set an amount and currency. For first timer, I suggest to only do $20-50USD swap. Doing a swap is to get items that you do not have. Do some research on their local brands. Why would you want her to get you L'oreal when you can buy it from your side? I do understand IF it's seriously cheap and you use a lot. Another unspoken rule is, do not UNDERSPEND.

• Be practical

If you set an amount of $100USD, don't expect her to send you 10 high end items. Have a list of items that you wish to have. Best way to show her is through pinterest. Pin up as many as you can so that she can choose and buy those from your list. While she is looking through the list, she can too have an idea of what you might like.

• Set a date to mail it out together

You may have set an amount to swap with BUT the budget does not include of mailing. Do set another amount aside for mailing. You too do want to register it as a registered mail as that both party can track the parcel and IF things happened, there's evident too. I would also suggest to keep the receipt too. If the parcel is lost or damage you may claim it from your local post office.

• Always communicate

Swapping is based on trust. However you can prevent or spot a swap lifter. One is to communicate often. Another is to ask her for a photo of your items or nicely packed parcel with your address on it.

• Don't be cheap

Do not send the other party all low end items and expect high end products. You will be blacklisted once she open your parcel. Do not send her used, overdue, samples or fake items.

• Ask her questions

Ask her what's her likes and dislikes. You do not want to receive things you do not like to have so is she. Or she might have allergic problem you might need to take note of.

• This is about giving too

Fingers crossed, it's also about receiving! If you do go ahead with the swap, remember to only put in the money or energy you can afford to lose.

• Don't swap if you're low on money

Unless you are only going to send post card or letters.

• Do not use it as business

You do not want to resell the items she specifically got for you. It is rude. Unless you ask her for permission, have mutual respect.

• Do some research

Some items can't be sent such as nail polish or alcohol. You may need to double check if you are going to send it especially to UK, they have stricter rules.

Swapping is easy. Follow all these tips and you should have no problem in it! Have fun swapping!

Why Drink Water?

I have met a number of people complaining that they have very dull and dry skin. The next question I will asked them is "Did you drink water?" and I'm not surprise when they replied "No" and what surprise me is "Does it matter?".

HELL YES!

Water Matters.

Personally I drank a ton of water and I meant A TON. I hate sodas, I hate the fizzy-ness on my tongue and frankly speaking I don't fancy that much sugar drink unless it's honey. You almost can never see me drink sodas.

Ever heard of people complaining that they haven't been to the bathroom for days and feel so bloated all the time? It never happen to me.

*It might be too much informations for some of you peeps.

I'm always able to do my business everyday. I don't even need to put pressure while I'm on it, it is quite a relaxing event for me. But what does water has to do with it?

Constipation is related to dehydration in the colon. When body is being hydrated, less water will be taken from the colon. So it helps to keep the stool soft and hence it's easy to pass it out.

Water benefits us in so many ways.

The cells in our skin is made up of water hence it needs water to work, without it they can't function well. If they don't get enough water, they will be dry, tight and flaky. Dry skin has less resilience and is more prone to wrinkling.

Why drink more water?

It's because water will reach our other organs before it reaches our skin cells. Drinking water is one of the best things you can do because it's literally free and also to keep our skin looking young. Proper hydration helps keeping our body system working and that includes our skin so that the nutrients are being sent to the cells keeping them hydrated and plump.

As per my previous post, having enough moisture in our skin makes our face firmer and less wrinkles and pores, needless to say it made us looks so much younger with glowing skin.

It was told that we need to drink at least 8 cups of water everyday but it varies. Not every one of us need that amount. Water is present in fruits and vegetables (or tea and coffee) so water itself is not the only source that helps to hydrate you. BUT of course what works best than the actual water itself?

Setting Powder VS Finishing Powder

Many people are confused on "Setting" and "Finishing" Powder. I know I was. I was gullible (Big Surprise).

It is because some companies don't clarify the difference on the packaging and some of the "artists" behind the counter don't even know. And sadly, some of the youtube beauty gurus don't even know the difference either. (Do watch Nail Polish As Lipstick?! | Chit Chat Time it explain why NOT to trust all of them.)

Setting power does what its name implies which is to set makeup in place so that the foundation wouldn't move. It too helps to prolong the makeup and matte out the shine that you do not want to have.

Finishing powder is used AFTER setting powder to defuse fine lines, wrinkles and pores. (It is best use on TV but NOT for photography.)

I bet you have seen these photos before. These are known as "Coke Face". Too much of finishing powder does this to you. It look flawless in naked eyes but when a strong photography flash hits on...this is what happened. Finishing powder has either titanium dioxide or zinc oxide in them. These contain an opaque white mineral and will leave a white cast on the skin.

If you use it on a normal daily basic, just dust a little and blend it well OR just try not to take a flash photography.

PS: HD Powder is also a Finishing Powder only with a fancy name.

In my last "lesson" I talked about knowing your brushes and today it will be types and uses. It may looked very intense due to so many brushes but trust me, it's easier than it seems.

Face Brushes:

• Foundation Brush
• Concealer Brush
• Duo Fibre Brush
• Powder Brush
• Angled Brush / Contour Brush
• Fan Brush
• Kabuki Brush
• Beauty Blender (Technically still an amazing tool to apply foundation)

Foundation Brush: Use to apply liquid or cream foundation. Also can be use to apply skincare products such as facial mask.

Concealer Brush: Use to apply liquid or cream concealer. Think of this brush as a small version of foundation brush.

Duo Fibere Brush: Multi-funtional brush. Use to apply liquid foundation, powder, liquid and cream blush because they are able to give an airbrushed effect look without much effort.

Powder Brush: Can be use for loose powder, blush and bronzer. Helps to diffuse the product without smudging the foundation.

Angled / Contour Brush: Can be use for blush and bronzer. Easy application because it's angled and fit perfectly on and under the cheekbone.

Fan Brush: Use for highlighter on cheek as well as dusting away excess/fallout under the eyes.

Kabuki Brush: A large dense flat top brush that use to apply loose powder which help buff skin to a flawless finish.

Beauty Blender: Multi-funtional tool. Use to apply liquid and cream foundation as well as buffing out concealer. I misplaced my original pink beauty blender hence I replaced with a green dupe, a cheaper version.

Eye Brushes:

• Flat Brush
• Blending Brush
• Angled Brush / Eyeliner Brush
• Smudger Brush
• Pencil Brush
• Lash Comb

Flat brush: A tiny version of foundation brush. Can be use for eyeshadow as it can help to pack product onto our lid.

Blending brush: A dome shaped brush. They are very loose and fluffy hence it can diffused products giving it a soft blended look. The tip of the brush is also called flower tip.

Angled / Eyeliner Brush: Use for gel liner because it can create a define line. You can use it for eyeshadow to create a softer eyeliner look.

Smudger Brush: Helps to smudge pencil eyeliner. It can be use to line the lash. I couldn't find my other smudger brush...the perks of owning too many and losing too many.

Pencil Brush: A mini blending brush that helps to diffuse and deposit colour easily. Can be use on upper and lower lash line. It also can create a define crease too.

Lash Comb: Comb out clumpy lashes. Brush side can be use on diffusing brow colour.

Lip Brushes:

• Angled Brush
• Flat Brush

Angeled Brush: Able to create a define line hence it is great for lining outer rim of the lip.

Flat Brush: Mini version of foundation brush. Apply lip product easily.

Many brushes are quite versatile. Such as I can use a concealer brush to apply glitter onto my eyelid, a pencil brush instead of smudger brush to line my lash line. Say NO to Wrinkles and Aging!

A nature for women to fight against aging and wrinkles. That's the first sign of being old. Who wants to look old? Life long battle against nature. So you should learn about this product, it will become your best friend.

What is Retinol?

It is Vitamin A and can also be known as Retinoic Acid.

What does Retinol do?

It helps to reduce the appearance of pore size, fine lines and deep wrinkles. They too help in fading of age spots.

Why it is effective?

It helps to increase making of collagen in our skin and also to stimulate new blood vessels giving our skin a rosy appearance. More collagen equals to firmer skin. It also function as an antioxidant which helps to terminate chain reactions that may damage cells further. Vitamin A is like a loudspeaker and sergeant, in this case a cell communicating ingredients. It helps to call out and connect other skin cells and make them work together and also to behave properly.

Wait! It can reduce appearance of pores? 

Yes. It can helps to unclog the pores, allowing other medicated creams to work better. It also helps to reduce acne outbreaks because it can prevent dead cells from clogging.

And No. It can only reduce the pores where it have enlarge BUT cannot change the size of pores you were given due to genetics.

Side Effects?

It can cost irritation and redness to some and there will be some peeling happening. If it starts to irritate, put on an even smaller amount and mix it with your moisturizer. And irritation still occur, stop using it. You are sensitive to it and need a mild potency treatment than others.

There will be peeling?

Yes. Retinoids work at a much more profound level by affecting gene expression and causing enhanced collagen production, skin smoothing, and evening out of pigmentation. It is a natural part of the healing process however you might not even notice it.

What to do if peeling occurs?

You can slab on some moisturizer, olive oil or aloe vera to sooth and hydrate the skin. Always hydrate your skin, no matter what.

How to use Retinol?

You can apply Retinol every 3rd night and if there's no sign of irritations or dryness, switch your routine to every 2nd night. So if you are someone like me, who doesn't have any dryness or flaky skin, you are good to go for every night.

What you need to know about Retinol?

• ONLY buy Retinol if it's packaged in an opaque tube. Vitamin A will lose effects once they exposure with air or light.
• Be sure to wear SPF if you're going to use Retinol in the day (Back to Point 1).
• Do not expect to see result ASAP. They need time to produce noticeable result, normally 12 weeks.

Where to get Retinol?

You can buy them from dermatologist or you can get a less concentrated ones from pharmacy. I got mine while I was in Malaysia Watsons for RM115/30ml.

Introduction to Brushes: Part I

Brushes plays a huge role in my makeup routine. To be honest I don't know how to apply my own makeup without it. I will feel so lost without it. Brushes is my most favorite "cosmetics" products ever. Many doesn't understand the differences and types of brushes they should use and I get stares from my own friends for owning too many. Probably enough usage for at least 3 persons use.

There are three parts to a brush:

• Hair Bundle
• Ferrule (Plated area to hold the hair bristle)
• Hander

There are three types of brushes too.

• Face Brush(es): Powder foundation/ Blush/ Bronzer etc

• Eye Brush(es): Eyeshadows / Eyebrow / Eyeliner

• Lip Brush(es)

Mac Cosmetics labels their brushes with numbers hence it's easier for most of us. If their brush that starts with "1" it is for face and body. Brushes that starts with "2" are for the eyes and those that starts with "3" are for the lips.

There are three types of bristles/hair:

• Synthetic
• Natural
• Duo Fibre

Synthetic hair makeup brush: Man made and their bristles is made from mostly nylon or polyester fibre. Often dyed into brown or white and sometimes black. They are very straight, smooth and has a plastic feel to it and looks shiny.

Synthetic makeup brush uses:

• Great for liquid and cream products
• Do not have cuticles so products won't trap in it
• Use less makeup products, save money in a long run
• Apply without much streaking because they are not clumpy and gunky
• Hair tends to gravitate towards each other making them perfect for precise application

Not suitable for:

• Powder products
• Eyebrow (Depends on each individual)

Suitable for:

• Gel Liner
• Lip lining
• Facial Mask
• Liquid/cream foundation
• Face primer / Moisturizer
• Picking/packing up glitters
• Concealer

Natural hair makeup brush: Typically made out of various animal's hair, from goat's to squirrel's. Texture is very much like our own hair. Often dyed in black, brown and even white.

Natural makeup brush uses:

• Great for powder products
• It has a lot of cuticles hence they can pick up more products
• Natural hair bristle moves freely hence they are great for blending
• The more you use them, the better they get (It's like season your brushes)

Not suitable for:

• Liquid/cream foundation/products
• Gel liner
• Lip lining

Suitable for:

• Loose powder
• Blush
• Contour / Bronzer
• Eyeshadows
• Eyebrow
• Highlighting

Duo fibre makeup brush: Combination of synthetic and natural hair makeup brush. They are often black with white feathery ends.

Duo fibre makeup brush uses:

• They are great for powder, liquid and cream
• Giving an airbrushed effects without effort

Not suitable for:

• Powder foundation (not enough coverage)
• Facial mask

Suitable for:

• Liquid/cream foundation
• Liquid/cream blush
• Highlighting

WHO IS WITCH HAZEL?

To be honest, I don't know there's a thing called "Witch Hazel".

When I first heard of it, I thought it might be some frictional character or it was referring to someone well known. I was 14. You can see how gullible I was then. When I grew older, I heard of "Witch Hazel" a lot...especially from someone overseas. Apparently "Witch Hazel" isn't that well known in Asia. So I want to know more about her...who is this "Witch Hazel".

She is pretty.

The more I read about her...I see hope. I am a victim of eczema. I cannot tell you how much it hurts and itch when it attacks. I'm in a state of agony. There's no cure for it. I still have scars left on my neck...even discolouration. It still attack me, even till now.

• It is a toner/cleanser that helps to reduce acnes. It can clarify skin and shrink the pores. A well known skincare product since thousands years ago in the west.
• Stop Bleeding. Witch hazel tightens skin naturally and helps in healing making it a popular choice for cleansing wounds before bandaging.
• Fight Aging. It can reduce swelling, redness, dryness, discoloration and also to tighten the skin.
• Cleanse hair and protect scalp. It helps in reducing oil build up in the scalp hence making our hair shiny and much more moisturizing.

Why Nivea Men Post Shave Balm is a great primer?

This particular item is famous in youtube world. Almost every beauty addicts who watch youtube will know about this product. It is known for being cheap and a great face primer for makeup.

It is a moisturizer that helps to soothes irritated skin and improve it over time and it smells like a mens' cologne to me. To be honest, I do like it because it reminds me of someone - a smell of a boyfriend/husband. I've used it for two days and yes I do see a difference. My makeup does stay and I don't ooze as much of facial oil throughout the day. It is a thick and watery product. Spread it across the face and apply. Stop until you feel tacky.

Glycerin does not dissolve in oil hence it still can stay throughout the day, making our makeup last because our facial oil cannot destroy it. Glycerin is found in many fixing spray because it is a solvent. It can melts the products and diffuse/blend them together so it can stick to our skin.

Well it's not just glycerin that helps there are also Isopropyl Palmitate and Chamomile Recutita. They are also known emollients in many beauty and skincare products.

Emollients helps to soften and soothe the skin and it can increase the skin hydration by reducing evaporation. It helps to keep the skin moist by providing a protection film on our face.

There is one more awesome ingredient that can be found in many household which is Witch Hazel. It is a natural astringent and toner. It has the ability to shrink the pores and facial sweat. It is also a product that can helps to brighten our skin and prevent it from drying out. There are many uses for witch hazel and I will write about it in the next post.

If you've noticed, these ingredients and definition are all about "Locking In the Moisture" and "Staying Hydrate". It is important to stay hydrate because it made our skin more plump and resilient. Hydrated skin will remain flexible and allow our protective barrier to remain intact and also helps our makeup to stay.

Do drink more water but not coffee or sodas. It's because they contain caffeine which is a diuretic, meaning that they draw water out of your system and your skin.
